However, as I have seen from my own experiences as a classroom teacher and school administrator, those in leadership positions at the administrative level can play an important role in supporting teachers, create environments that are responsive to diverse students, allocate resources to support programs, and support parents and communities. Some argue that school administrators bear great responsibility in hiring and retaining teachers who are capable of working in diverse contexts and with marginalized populations, working collaboratively to bring about change.

Bogotch (2014) suggests that educational leaders must engage the dominant discourse in ways that disrupt the status quo. This is an ongoing journey of adjusting, re-thinking, creating new epistemologies, and seeking out possibilities for action.
